CNA938 Rewind - A Letter to Myself: "It doesn't stop us from living today" — Mark and Aisyah's journey with ALS as a family
Mark Collins was diagnosed with ALS in 2024, when he was in his early-40's. ALS is a progressive motor-nueron condition that gradually takes away a person's physical abilities. Today, Mark requires full-time care. In our conversation, Mark's wife, Aisyah Gersali shares her journey as a caregiver, how the family has grown together by navigating the challenges, and where she finds the emotional strength to also provide for their two young children while working a full-time job. Both Aisyah and Mark share their reflections and what they'd say in their letters to themselves.
