The breakdown: What you need to know about SIA’s flying ‘hotels’

SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines is spending S$1.15 billion to upgrade the cabins of its entire A380 fleet. The highlight is its redesigned suites, which look like a room in a hotel. Here are the key features:
1) Behind the artistically designed sliding door, lies a passenger’s personal space. Enjoy a good night’s rest on a full-flat bed or use it like a seat with the help of the electronically-controlled recline. This added convenience is an upgrade from the past when passengers had to convert the seat into a bed from a sitting position on a plane.
2) Couples who wish to spend quality time together can have their beds converted to form a double bed. Otherwise the bed can be stowed completely, creating more space within the suite.
3) Each seat is furnished by renowned Italian furniture maker Poltrona Frau in fine leather. Passengers can easily adjust their sitting position by using an electronic control side panel. The chair can rotate between 135 and 270 degrees and tilt back up to 45 degrees.
4) Watch your favourite movie whether you are sitting or lying down in the suite with the 32-inch full HD monitor. The monitor can swivel to give passengers the best view.
5) Keep your clothes free from crease thanks to the personal wardrobe. Ladies can keep their belongings in the customised handbag stowage compartment during the flight.
#6) The vanity counter in the stylishly furnished lavatories will keep you looking fresh during the flight.
