Cyclist killed in accident; truck driver arrested
SINGAPORE — A 57-year-old Singaporean cyclist was killed in an accident with a tipper truck along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 today (April 17).
Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force — notified at 5.25pm — pronounced him dead at the scene. Callers who alerted the authorities and media said the lower half of the victim’s body was mangled. A bicycle was seen about 50 metres away from his body.
The police said they were notified at about 5.29pm. Upon arrival at the scene, they arrested the 38-year-old Singaporean tipper truck driver for causing death by negligent act.
Police investigations are ongoing.
