SINGAPORE – For over two years, this 42-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted his 11-year-old daughter in the family home.
He is accused of luring his biological daughter into the master bedroom and asking her for massages, and then locking her inside the room to abuse her. She was only 11 years old when the abuse started.
The accused had lived together with his wife, two daughters, son and domestic helper in the flat. His wife has since divorced him.
The man faces 10 charges of committing an indecent act with a child and sexual assault by penetration and outraging the modesty of a minor under 14 – all of which took place in the family home between the end of 2011 and April 2014.
The sexual abuse trial opened in the High Court on Tuesday (Nov 15). Both the accused and his victim, now 15, cannot be named to protect her identity.
Prosecutors intend to call 19 witnesses, including the victim, to the stand.
In their opening statement, Deputy Public Prosecutors April Phang and Amanda Chong said that the first time that accused sexually abused the victim was in her younger brother’s room. He asked her to give him a leg massage, and swiped her hand across his genitals.
“Subsequently, most of the acts of sexual abuse were committed by the accused in the master bedroom of the flat. The victim would usually go into the master bedroom to use the computer for school projects, or when the accused asked her to go into the said room to massage him. The accused would ensure that the door was closed and locked before performing the acts of sexual abuse on the victim,” said the prosecution.
He last abused her on the night of April 15, 2014. The girl informed her mother of the sexual assault over Whatsapp the next day.
The victim took the stand on the first day of the trial in a private hearing, which was closed to the public and media.
The trial continues.
