Series of picnics to bring families closer
As part of its efforts to get families to spend quality time together, the Families For Life Council will be kicking off the first in a year-long series of picnics on May 29.
This Families for Life Celebrations will first be held in conjunction with Car-Free Sunday SG at the Civic District, starting with a family walk in the morning from the National Gallery Singapore and a breakfast picnic at Empress Lawn, featuring hawker fare and more. There will be mass fitness workouts, an evening “drive-in” movie screening, music performances and other family activities.
Held every last Sunday of the month from February to July, Car-Free Sunday SG allows pedestrians to roam and take part in organised activities in the Civic District as roads are closed to vehicular traffic there and in parts of the Central Business District.
With more than 40 per cent of respondents from the Families for Life recent survey indicating that engaging in online activities together helped to enhance family life, there will be a Facebook live-chat on May 27 with Social and Family Development Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, special guests and panellists to engage the online community to share their experiences about family time.
