14 Mar 2016 04:15AM

A seventh Community Health Centre (CHC) will be opened in May, in Ang Mo Kio.

The Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) said yesterday that the new centre would support general practitioners in providing more holistic care for residents with chronic conditions who live in the neighbourhood.

More details will be provided at the launch.

“With early detection and intervention, this helps the patients to better manage their health conditions,” said Dr Wong Kirk Chuan, AIC deputy chief executive.

Currently, there are six CHCs: One each at Jurong East, Tiong Bahru, Bedok North, Bedok South and Tampines, while the sixth is a mobile CHC, managed by the National Healthcare Group.

Some of the services provided at the CHCs includes diabetic retinal photography, diabetic foot screening, nurse counselling and education, dietetics as well as physiotherapy. VALERIE KOH
