SINGAPORE — A track fault near the Jurong East Station caused a delay in commuters’ journey on the East-West Line for the second day in a row this morning (Dec 30).
As of 9.32am, the track fault has been rectified, said SMRT Corporation on its Twitter account. Trains were moving slower due to the earlier congestion, resulting in a longer waiting time for commuters, it added.
SMRT first announced in a tweet at 7.49am today that commuters are to expect an additional 10 minutes of travelling time from Joo Koon to Clementi towards Paris Ris.
SMRT later tweeted at 8.55am that travelling time could be extended by an additional 30 minutes.
This was similar to yesterday's tweet, where SMRT cautioned commuters to expect an additional 10 minutes on the same line due to a track fault.
Netizens have taken to social media to complain about the delay, which appears to be longer than what was stated by SMRT.
Responding to a Facebook post by TODAY, user William Tan said he has been in the train for 35 minutes from Boon Lay to Clementi while user Rachel Chen said she has been stuck in the train for "45 minutes or more".
