Quad nations to jointly monitor waters in Indo-Pacific
The Quad grouping has agreed to jointly monitor waters in the Indo-Pacific. Foreign ministers from the US, India, Japan and Australia are in New Delhi, where they also announced a joint infrastructure project in the Pacific Islands, as well as collaborations on energy and critical minerals. Without naming Beijing, the allies said they are concerned about the situation in the South and East China seas. The Quad had failed to hold a leaders' summit last year, raising questions over its long-term direction. China has criticised the Quad as a Cold War-style grouping aimed at containing its rise. Kate Fisher reports from Washington DC and Neha Poonia reports from New Delhi.
