Inside 'Penguin Island': Chinese tech giant Tencent's city-sized HQ

06:37 Min

Chinese tech giant Tencent has opened its new Shenzhen headquarters to the public. Built entirely on reclaimed land, the sprawling 809,000 sq m campus is designed as a city of the future. Penguin Island - named so after Tencent’s mascot, may only be 30 percent done, but there are already more than 14,000 employees working there. The island can accommodate around 80,000 people when work is completed. It includes conference and exhibition venues, schools, a museum, office spaces as well as 11 blocks of staff dormitories. CNA's Deborah Wong had a firsthand look at life on the island.
